Prefects' Council Election (30/6/2012)
With June ending and July just round the corner, the
school is buzzing with excitement. What for? Well, elections of course!
For the
second time in Orchidian history, democracy reigns and the Prefects’ Council
elections are taking place at the School and House levels. Over the course of
the last ten days, prospective Head Girls and Head Boys of class X persuaded
the students to vote for them through speeches, while nominated House Captains
spoke to their Houses- Carnation, Daffodil, Marigold and Tulip- about the same.
Along with the Captains, Vice-captains of Class IX are also voted for. Other
important appointments include Cultural Secretary, Sports Captain
and Discipline Incharge.
30th June, 2012, Election
Day, has finally arrived. Pictures of the nominees have been taken and ballot
boxes have been readied. All that’s left is the final casting of votes.
Students of classes VI-X of Orchids-The International School are eagerly
waiting to vote and welcome the Prefects’ Council of 2012. However, we also
know that more than the outcome, the enriching experience of elections is
important.
